De Wolden Summer Sale: the start for many international stars

In 2007 Jan Broek, VDL Stud and HBC Stal set up the first edition of De Wolden Summer Sale; an auction with strictly selected showjumpers and promising foals. Over the years, De Wolden Summer Sale has become a strong name in the equestrian world and ever since the auction has been a part of the international show Concours Hippique De Wolden. And it has been successful: almost 60 percent of all foals and sporthorses sold are classified at international level and more than 60 horses are already competing at 1.40m level or higher.

More and more former auction sporthorses and / or foals of De Wolden Summer Sale are breaking through at the highest level. Etos HBC (Cantos x Kroongraaf) made his appearance this year at several Global Champions Tour competitions, ridden by both Ibrahim Bisharat and Abdel Saïd. Colarde E (Chacco Blue x Voltaire) put himself on the map once again with Tom Sanders by debuting at 1.60m level in Nörten-Hardenberg. In addition, Cicomein VDL (Chacco Blue x Jus de Pomme) and Jonas Vervoort delivered some outstanding results at Spruce Meadows, Calgary.
Other international stars of De Wolden Summer Sale are for example Zilversprings (Elizabeth Gingras CAN), Estoril de Vardag (Ahmed Mansour JOR), Cavarola (Christopher Surbey CAN & Ben Asselin CAN), Adamo (1.60m, Chloe Reid USA & Molly Ashe Cawley USA ), Eleganto (Robbert Ehrens NED & Sophia Siegel USA), Biallon (Tina Yates USA), Bling Bling (Eion McMahon IRL & Abdullah Al Sharbatly KSA), Valdato G (Julia Kayser AUT & Cara Raether USA), Benibantos (Alireza Bakhtiari IRI ) and Another Pleasure (Robert Vos NED & Peter Geerink NED).

Comeback of Tatjana

One of the most successful showjumpers out of the first edition in 2007 is without a doubt Tatjana (Niagara x Damiro). After the auction, Lebanon’s Karim Fares took over the reins of  Tatjana and achieved many great successes at Grand Prix level. They competed at the world-class horse show of Spruce Meadows, Calgary, finished 5th in the Grand Prix of Zuidwolde in 2012 and jumped in the Grand Prix competitions of Eindhoven, Moorsele, De Steeg, Roosendaal, et cetera.
This year, Tatjana will return to De Wolden Summer Sale; obviously not as an auction horse, but as the dam of one of the auction foals. Colt Oranje Royale is a son of the extremely successful Tatjana and with Oranje Royale being selected for De Wolden Summer Sale Tatjana will make her comeback.  Oranje Royale was bred by showjumper Karim Fares himself, who runs his own stable in Veeningen. Oranje Royale is a son of the Grand Prix showjumping stallion Urano de Cartigny, who is successful with the French rider Felicie Bertrand.
