Grand Slam VDL and VDL Mattias delivered excellent results at the CSI3 in Samorin last weekend. Ridden by Jur Vrieling, Grand Slam VDL won the 1.50m class, while Mattias secured an impressive third place in the 1.55m Grand Prix. Several offspring of VDL stallions also caught the eye with strong performances.
Grand Slam VDL (Cardento x Heartbreaker) made a strong start to the show. In Thursday’s 1.50m class, the stallion and Jur Vrieling remained clear in both the first round and the jump-off. With a fast time of 27.15 seconds, the pair secured the victory.
VDL Mattias (Comme Il Faut x Catoki) once again showed his quality. Ridden by Jur Vrieling, he jumped to an excellent third place in the 1.55m Grand Prix, adding another impressive result at the highest level to his record.
Another strong Grand Prix result came from Orchidee VDB (Comthago VDL). Ridden by Czech rider Natalie Kovarova, the KWPN horse finished third in the 1.40m Grand Prix. The pair remained clear in both the first round and the jump-off, finishing the latter in 36.32 seconds.
Oscar MDB (Brantzau VDL) enjoyed an outstanding show in the classes for seven-year-old horses. The KWPN horse, bred by M. de Boer, won Thursday’s 1.30m class under Polish rider Dawid Skiba. Two days later, the pair confirmed their excellent form by also winning the 1.35m Final for seven-year-olds. They remained clear in the jump-off and set the winning time of 34.00 seconds.
An offspring of Arezzo VDL also celebrated a victory. Mosandro van Perbeemd (Arezzo VDL) won the 1.35m class with British rider Jessica Hewlett. The gelding, bred by D. Vermeiren from Loenhout, remained clear and crossed the finish line in 57.68 seconds.
