Quintin finishes third in the 5* 1.60m Grand Prix at Spruce Meadows

The international competition week at Spruce Meadows once again yielded excellent results for horses with a strong VDL pedigree.

In the prestigious AON Grand Prix, presented by Rolex (1.60m), VDL bloodlines were excellently represented. Vaclav Stanek rode Quintin to an impressive third place. The KWPN gelding, sired by Quaprice Bois Margot, was bred by Dennis van Tilburg and once again confirmed his class at the highest level. In addition, Daniel Coyle finished in a creditable eighth place with Farrel in this demanding five-star Grand Prix, whilst Tom Wachman finished seventh with Kilkenny. The Irish grey gelding is by Cardento out of a Guidam dam, thereby once again underlining the value of this successful bloodline. Kilkenny was bred by Ita Brennan.

In the Canadian Utilities Cup (Qualifier) (1.55m) too, the Irish rider Daniel Coyle rode convincingly to victory with Ariel Grange / VDL Stud’s Cardento x Stakkato son Farrel. The 16-year-old KWPN gelding demonstrated his exceptional quality in the jump-off and secured the win.

Success was also on the cards in the Friends of the Meadows Jumper (1.30m). Daniel Coyle won the class with Obsession, a Carrera x Guidam offspring, meaning that a VDL bloodline once again topped the results. The Carrera son was bred by Erik Wiefferink.

With victories and podium finishes at various levels, horses with VDL genetics are once again demonstrating their international calibre at the prestigious Spruce Meadows competitions.
