At the international show in Lier (Belgium), horses with VDL bloodlines once again delivered impressive performances. With a victory in the Young Horse class and a top placing in the Grand Prix, they underlined their quality and potential at the highest level.
The 8-year-old Romy FZ, a offspring of Baltic, put in an excellent performance under the saddle of Belgian rider Katja Haep. On 20 March, the pair raced to victory in the 1.45m class with a clear round in 35.76 seconds, earning €7,050. Two days later, they confirmed their form by finishing fifth in the 1.45m 2* Grand Prix, again with a double clear round in 41.16 seconds. The Baltic daughter was bred by Franca Zanetti.
The offspring of Douglas and Hardrock Z also made their mark on the competition. Doubalou, a son of Douglas, jumped to victory in the CSI2* 1.35m class with German rider Felix Hassmann. The Douglas, bred by Hedwig Eder, remained clear and clocked the fastest time of 30.04 seconds. The pair had also finished in 3rd place on Saturday.
In the young horse category, there was also success for Koquine De Riverland, a daughter of Hardrock Z. Ridden by the Belgian Cyril Cools, she won both the final for 6-year-olds (1.25m) on 21 March and the qualifying class (1.20m) the day before. On the opening day, the pair finished in 7th place, confirming her talent and future potential. SCEA Riverland is the breeder of the Hardrock daughter.
