Maximus is already the eighth KWPN-approved son of the foundation stallion Zirocco Blue. Under the saddle of Jur Vrieling, Zirocco Blue was very successful in sport from an early age and in breeding the son of Mr. Blue can be counted among the best of his generation. Offspring such as Eddie Blue (Devin Ryan USA), Magnolia Mystic Rose (Eduardo Menezes BRA), El Rocco SK (Jur Vrieling NED), Jet Blue (McLain Ward USA), Flair (Steve Guerdat SUI) and Fliere Fluiter (Jack Ansems NED) don't lie; Zirocco Blue VDL is represented every week at the highest level. Maximus was bred from a daughter of Verdi - a successful KWPN stallion under Maikel van der Vleuten.

Maximus's dam is the elite IBOP-(Spr.) Sport-(Spr.) mare Daloma, who herself was successful up to 1.30m level. Grandam Paloma in turn jumped at Grand Prix and World Cup level under top rider Eric van der Vleuten and has already produced the successful show jumpers Ferm and Ulomus in breeding. Maximus' great-grandmother Sjaloma is one of the best breeding mares from the famous Loma line; she produced the approved stallions Furore and Jaguar and was the basis for many international sport horses, including the famous Voyeur. Under Kent Farrington, Voyeur jumped to Olympic team silver in 2016 and an individual fifth place in Rio de Janeiro.

 

Palmares

Maximus was approved by the KWPN in the autumn of 2020 and earned a nice score of 81 points. His power and rideability were very positive and were rewarded with an 8.5. Maximus invariably scored an 8.0 for the other jumping components.

Maximus now jumps at 1.35m level and jumped clear in his first international starts, making a big impression.
