GORLA MINORE (ITA) – A particularly successful weekend for the offspring of VDL stallions at the international show in Gorla Minore. Kirocco (by Zirocco Blue) won the 1.45m CSI2 Grand Prix, with Norajo RSI (by Freeman) taking second place. The VDL offspring were also in excellent form in the young horse classes, securing no fewer than seven victories.
Kirocco and Norajo RSI first and second in the Grand Prix
Ridden by Portuguese rider Ricardo Benzinho Karle da Costa, Kirocco (by Zirocco Blue) delivered an outstanding performance in the 1.45m CSI2* Grand Prix. The pair rode clear of faults in both the main round and the jump-off, clocking the winning time of 37.87 seconds. The Zirocco Blue son was bred by H. Rooijakkers from Prinsenbeek.
Second place went to Norajo RSI (by Freeman) and the Portuguese rider Rodrigo Sampaio Peixoto. This pair also remained double clear and finished in 37.92 seconds, just five hundredths behind the winner. M. van Dijk bred the Freeman son.
Three victories for Glasgow offspring Lucky Golden Boy H.P.
Among the six-year-old horses, Lucky Golden Boy H.P. (by Glasgow van ’t Merelsnest) was particularly successful. Ridden by the Italian rider Daniele Cuva, he won no fewer than three classes. With three clear rounds and the fastest time on all three days, the chestnut, bred by M. Coana, showed that he is in top form.
Two victories for Raimond-W, a Liamant W offspring
Raimond-W (by Liamant) also enjoyed an excellent weekend. Ridden by the Irish rider Kellie Allen, the five-year-old won the class for five-year-olds on both Saturday and Sunday. Raimond-W remained clear on both days and was bred by P. Wolters.
Victories for offspring of Dallas and Brantzau
In the seven-year-old class on Saturday, Dua Lipa 17 (by Dallas) secured a victory. Ridden by the German rider Sönke Aldinger, the mare remained double clear and won with a jump-off time of 37.92 seconds. Dua Lipa 17 was bred by A. Schnackenberg.
Ben S (by Brantzau) also secured a victory. Ridden by the Swiss rider Philipp Züger, the eight-year-old won the 1.40m two-phase class on Friday 9 October. The pair rode clear and finished in 31.75 seconds. Ben S was bred by Josef Schmid.
